Hollywood Studios

On Friday, mom and I spent the day at Hollywood studios, formally MGM. I was really excited about seeing the Star Wars area since I never saw it before. Knowing long lines were inevitable, we headed to the newest attraction called the Rise of the Resistance. We figured the earlier the better since you couldn’t do a lightning lane for this. Lightning lanes used to be called fast pass, but fast pass was free and these cost $20 per person per ride. Grumble grumble grumble.

We probably waited 40 minutes in a never ending line of twists and turns both inside and out. Disney does a good job and making you believe this is a short line by having it multiple twists, with different displays. We ended up climbing on a people carrier that probably fit around 16 people. We were captured, but the resistance was able to break us out. It was fun and really well done and you really felt like you’re a part of the Star Wars experience.

Next we used a lightning lane for the Millennium Falcon, and that turned a 70 minute wait into a less than 20 minute wait. It felt like a much shorter ride. Mom and I were the pilots in the front seat, which is kind of cool. We are in charge of piloting the ship. There are only six of us on each ship, and we were following the Millennium Falcon.

We left the Star Wars area to head to a 12 o’clock show on the Indiana Jones stunt adventure. It was fun. I do remember it from the last time I was there. Then we went to star tours, which was a fun adventure. We went over to see the Muppets, 3-D show, which was exactly like I remember it 20 years ago. Next we went to see a show called Frozen sing-along with Elsa and her sister. It was cute and the theater was completely packed. Mom has not seen Frozen before so she didn’t know the songs, but still enjoyed it.

Our last show of the day was a 4 o’clock Beauty and the Beast live. It was quite good. We use our last lightning lane for that which gave us access to any seat in the theater that we wanted. It was only 30 minutes but they tried to portray the main scenes and best songs of the show.

Tomorrow is the day at Epcot with John and Cathy.
