After too many hours in cars and planes, we decided we were not going very far today. We woke up slowly and many of us had a sound night sleep. Patrick and Julian went to one of the Mauna Lani beaches to go snorkeling at 7 AM. They saw some baby sharks that were still around four or 5 feet long. Then Dany came down around 8:30 and she and Patrick followed a small manta ray around. John, Bowman and I went to the beach around 9:30. We literally put our stuff down when we got a call from Julian. They believe they left their marriage certificate in the rental car that was returned yesterday. He needed to run to the courthouse in Waimea to get a copy and needed a car so Bowman went with him. Mom and Josie stayed at the house to chill and chat.
In the meantime, John and I chilled on the beach, had some fun beachy drinks and went snorkeling. John’s mask was leaky so that wasn’t as fun. My mask did pretty well. I saw a number of fish but I couldn’t necessarily tell you their names but they were bright yellow or one was half beige half black, I saw one fish that was about 2 1/2 feet to 3 feet long.

The rehearsal started at 3:30, so Bowman, John and Patrick had to go to. We were all invited to a welcome dinner after the rehearsal. Here are a few photos from the rehearsal.

They came back to pick us up and change for dinner. Bowman made it crystal clear that it was going to be hot and full sun on Saturday for the wedding and that we should consider wearing something cool.
Dinner was lovely, there was 1+ table of Kell family and friends and everyone else was Natalie‘s side. It felt just like Cathy and John‘s wedding. There are a few people that gave a speech, including John. I tried uploading the video, but it was too big for the site. He did a wonderful job.

While we are at dinner, Andrew showed us one of the video cams showing Kilauea had started erupting. Damn we just missed it. We learned later that it started around 2:40 PM so some people got to see it start during the day. The image below is what I found online. The other ones were pictures we took of the TV. Here are a few photos and videos that we captured watching it.

Tomorrow the wedding starts at 4:30 PM. Can’t wait.
