Day 16 Thailand, Krabi

We finally had a lazy vacation day in Krabi. I suggested to Mrs. Kell that we just wake up whenever we feel like it, she still set her alarm for 7:30. I was slow to move, but she went down to breakfast. We made it out of the room by 10am. We found a tuk tuk to take us to Ao Nang beach, and I got my photo of a woman in her hijab riding a motorcycle. We ran into Erika and Matt where she dropped us off, so together we walked down the beach, until we separated. Bowman and I were taking photos, and they continued onto the end to spend an hour or so in the water. We found a spot to sit, and the beach was mostly full of shells, and some sand. We must have had 40 different people come up to us trying to sell us mats, scarves, drinks, massages, jewelry, you name it. We considered this one of the more aggressive towns for selling goods. We walked in the Andaman Sea, and the water was quite warm, and the sand muddy. Terri and Mark sought out a longtail boat to a white sand beach and cave only 10 minutes away. Many of us wished we’d done that too.

After our beach time, we grabbed lunch, or should I say I did. I convinced Bowman to order red curry chicken pizza, and it was a bit too spicy for her. But I thought it was yummy. Then we walked and shopped until we got tired of doing it. I got tired before Bowman, so decided to walk back to the hotel separately. I wasn’t exactly sure where it was, but found it with the help of a few locals. Bowman had some difficult too, but ended up catching a tuk tuk 3min from the hotel. By the time I made it there I was one big drip of sweat. I headed right for the pool. The pools here are really amazing. They are about 4 of them, and they are long with varying depths, so it’s fun to swim around, meander to the next pool and recline on an underwater chair with jets, watch a lizard, grab a drink, sit under the waterfall, or just sit and chat. We ended up all gathering to the G-Adventure section, near the bar.

I don’t know if I mentioned this earlier, but when we were in the rain forest, Brenda told us a monkey took her bathing suit. Mary left it outside overnight and it was gone in the morning. Later that day, Mary told me that they took her bathing suit and hid it from Brenda, and she believed her. So then our last night in the jungle, we were walking to dinner when Mary approached us, gave us Brenda’s bathing suit and told us to tell her we found it in a tree. Bowman got the job, gave it to her, and Brenda was so pleased to get it back, surprised it was dry and smelled clean, but believed her. Bowman was struggling with the guilt of lying to a former police officer. So on our last day in Krabi, Karen and Mary told her the truth. Then called bowman a liar. Too funny. Careful who you trust.

Tonight is our last night together, and we will grab dinner close by, and then start packing. We leave for Bangkok at 9am tomorrow.
